Calibration
Test and comparison of accuracy of an instrument against some
reference standard and Traceable instrument or equipment.
Traceability
Traceability requires calibration laboratory to have their reference
standards calibrated by some approved source such as National
Physical Laboratory (NPL), United Kingdom Accreditation Services
(UKAS), and Dutch Calibration Department (DKD). The calibration
certificates from such sources are called traceability.
Standard
A target against which subsequent performance is to be compared.
Conformance
The degree to which a product’s design and operating characteristics
meet established standards.
Quality
The totality of features and characteristics of a product or service
that bear on its ability to satisfy stated or implied needs.
Quality Control
Operational techniques and activities that are used to fulfill
given requirements for quality
Quality Assurance
All those planned and systematic actions necessary to provide
adequate confidence that a product, process or service will satisfy
given requirements for quality
Productivity
An economic measure of efficiency that summarizes what is produced
relative to resources used to produce it.
Performance
A product’s primary operating characteristic.
Perceived Quality
As seen by customer.
